On this page you’ll find all merchandize cards from Roy Keane that were published in 1998 / 1999 and that I actually own. I don’t copy & paste pictures from all around the internet. So chances are that these aren’t all cards available. If you like to suggest one or more cards for me to complete my collection, just give me a hint in the commentary section on this page. Thanks in advance!

Many believe that the absence of Roy Keane during the 97/98 season was the sole reason that Manchester United failed to deliver the Premiership title again. It proved that the loss of a player as influential as Roy can be detrimental to any team even if they are the biggest in the world.

Now he is back and raring to go. He has shown that he is back to full fitness and feels in better shape than he ever has. He is without question one of the strongest midfielders in the country and maybe in the world.

Roy Keane         Stats / Player Profile

The Irish midfielder missed most of last season through injury and played in only 10 matches. He was badly missed late in the campaign, and his link up with Jaap Stam is keenly anticipated. Keane previously played for Cobh Ramblers and Notts Forest.

Keane is eager to prove to the world how important he is in the scheme of things at Old Trafford after spending much of the 1997/98 season as a frustrated spectator. Teaming up with the other hard man Stam, he will bring steel to a side that appeared vulnerable at times in the last campaign.

Keane is imperious at times as he patrols midfield, marshalling those around him. There is little doubt that United missed him on occasions last season. Having recovered from a career-threatening injury, he has lost none of his old bite and full-blooded commitment.

Roy Keane

Keane unfortunately missed out on the European Cup Final after a second yellow card in Turin. He scored United’s goal in the 1-1 home draw against Bayern Munich in the group stages, and the opening goal in Turin against Juventus. His play was exceptional in all the European ties where he came up against many of the top strikers in the game.

Keane has been one of United’s most influential players since his arrival from Nottingham Forest for a then English record fee of £3,750,000 in 1993. His absence through injury in the 1997/98 campaign was one of the chief reasons why the club failed to win any silverware. One of the foremost midfielders of this day, the Irishman’s combative play has made him a big favourite with the fans.
