Similar to the first Dean Ambrose FAQ page on my other blog, I’m doing it again with this page. I only put questions (and my answers) in here that didn’t appear already on the first page. Of course, if you’ve got a question, you can also ask via the comment section at the end of this page. Sometimes questions are related to a specific event and my answers aren’t universally correct at all times. In those cases I try to write in a way that you’ll also understand one year later. And now have fun!

  1. Why are people cheering for Dean Ambrose?
    published on 17 March 2016

Sometimes I wonder, if I should take certain question seriously or if I shouldn’t. Because, wrestling really is a very simple concept – in theory. There are babyfaces – the good guys – and they are presented like good guys. And then, there are the heels – the bad guys – and those are presented like bad guys. And people cheer for the good guys because they want for the good guys to triumph over the bad guys. The classic Hollywood concept. Really easy to get. Now, Dean Ambrose is a babyface right now. He occasionally attacks the evil Authority (when Roman Reigns isn’t around because of injuries or an evil crowd), he helps fellow faces against heels, he doesn’t win matches because heels are cheating, etc. He’s also a great talker and entertaining in the ring. So, people obviously cheer him. Easy concept.

What you should really ask is, dear anonymous, why Roman Reigns is booed despite his status as babyface. And the answer here could be: because he’s actually booked like a heel: he pins his best friend in the world, so he can main event WrestleMania; he only has one friend, otherwise it’s one versus all for him, so he only fights for himself and doesn’t care for his fellow babyfaces; he uses the gimmick and the catchphrase that was made popular by a group of three guys. And there are probably a few other things not entirely forcing the crowds to get the face concept of Roman Reigns. With the face concept of Dean Ambrose on the other side, it should be rather obvious.

  2. Are Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns friends in real life?
    published on 12 April 2016

First of all, WWE isn’t like other jobs. It’s not even like any other sport. Because you are basically around 300 days away from home and travel with the same people. So chances are that the WWE roster is like a big family. You are around each other 24/7, so most people are friends or at least friendly with each other. And, yes, because Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns made their debut in WWE together and did their thing as The Shield for almost two years, there certainly is a special bond between those three guys, also behind the curtain. In terms of in-ring chemistry there is a special bond between Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins; outside the arenas Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns are good friends.

  3. What leather jackets did Dean Ambrose wear so far in WWE?
    published on 12 April 2016

Dean Ambrose leather jacket During his solo run as Dean Ambrose in WWE since June 2014 the man was wearing already a few leather jackets. Those three are the most prominent private ones that Dean Ambrose was wearing plus the one leather jacket that was produced as official WWE merchandize:

The links lead you to the very online stores where you can buy your very own Dean Ambrose leather jacket. Please note that those are also just replicas, not the official brands. If I get to know those brands, I’ll add the links in here.

[EDIT / 03 Aug 2016] To celebrate his WWE World (Heavyweight) Championship win at 'Money in the Bank', Dean Ambrose bought himself a new leather jacket that he sported first in early July 2016. The manufacturing company is called First Manufacturing Company Inc. and the most noticeable things about the jacket are the skulls on both sleeves. I haven't found this specific jacket so far but under the link you'll find a similar one with the skulls on chest and back.

  4. Is Dean Ambrose left handed?
    published on 25 April 2016

No, Dean Ambrose is right handed. Like his alter ego Jonathan Good, he uses to sign contracts for championship matches with his right hand. He also prefers his right hand for punches or certain moves.

  5. Did Dean Ambrose really end William Regal’s career?
    published on 27 April 2016

No, (Antonio) Cesaro was the one who ended William Regal’s in-ring career (to date). Dean Ambrose had his second and latest match against William Regal on 15 July 2012 (taped on 07 June 2012) while William Regal had his latest match so far on 25 December 2013 (taped on 21 November 2013) against (Antonio) Cesaro. And with all the metal that William Regal now has got in his neck, it looks highly unlikely that he will ever have a televised / live match again (as unfortunate as it is).

  6. Why doesn’t Dean Ambrose use Twitter and Instagram?
    published on 27 April 2016

Because he simply doesn’t see the need in telling the world what he has got for breakfast or when he goes to poop. He said so in a Question & Answer session in 2015 but he also said something more profoundly about his aversion for Social Media in a 2014 interview with The Reminder (the original source isn’t there any more, so I link you to Cageside Seats where I got the quote from:

“I probably don’t have any more of a bigger following on the Internet than anybody else does, I just probably have a stranger one. I don’t know where that comes from. Maybe it’s just the kind of person I attract. I’m aware that that’s there, but I try to not pay too close attention to it, unless for simple entertainment purposes. As far as social media and all that, I understand connecting with fans on a different level, but I don’t feel the need to open myself up to the opinion of everybody in the world with a phone or computer. I just don’t get that; being connected to everybody on such a superficial level like that. It’s not really for me.

There’s a kind of mystery when you don’t put yourself out like that. When you don’t put yourself out like that, people start to kind of create their own version of you in their head of what you really are like or who you really are and things about you become rumors and all that becomes true. People’s perception of me they haven’t even realized is probably so, or it might be kind of real, but maybe they know but [maybe] they don’t. No one really has any idea about me. To me, what I give you is what happens onscreen and past that, anything you’re coming up with in your own head you’re creating in your own mind. But it’s cool. I’d rather have too many weird fans than no fans at all. I love all those crazy girls.”

Anyway, there once was a time when Dean Ambrose used to send out some tweets on Twitter (part I / part II / part III). But he deleted almost all of them and didn’t use Twitter ever since. At the time he was still new in FCW / WWE and was probably told that he needs to use Twitter to promote the company. Then he made his debut in WWE with The Shield where Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns promoted their team, so Dean Ambrose was able to stop tweeting himself. After the split WWE and fans got used to him not putting out anything to the internet, so he wasn’t forced back doing so.

  7. Is Dean Ambrose used right?
    published on 19 May 2016

I can easily write a philosophical thesis on this subject. But I’ve written far too much about it already. Just visit and read a few posts / articles on this very blog or the first Eire + Alba blog. You can search for some phrases or vocabulary on the top right side, so you don’t have to loosely search through all posts and pages. But I’d like to add one thought that I just recently read.

From the break-up of The Shield in June 2014 on, many wrestling fans got the impression that Roman Reigns was the guy who got the nod from the boss to become the top guy in the company. But it wasn’t just about Reigns being pushed as the top babyface. It was also Set Rollins being pushed as the top heel. Now, I’m not saying that Dean Ambrose wasn’t pushed from the break-up of The Shield until now. But when he was in the main storyline and in main events at PPVs, he was only there to get his opponent over. Dean Ambrose until now only won his matches at PPVs when he wasn’t in the main event, i.e when he wasn’t part of the main storyline, i.e against Luke Harper last year and against Chris Jericho this year.

You can argue about this and react negatively about it. And hell did I! But you can also dig a little deeper to see it in a more positive way. WWE not just push wrestlers they want on top, they also push wrestlers because they think they can’t become popular themselves. So, all three ex-Shield guys are the future of WWE. But WWE maybe really know what they have in Dean Ambrose, so they didn’t push the guy as much as the two others because they know that Dean Ambrose can be popular all by himself. 2014 / 2015 clearly was the season of Seth Rollins; 2015 / 2016 is all about Roman Reigns. 2016 / 2017 needs to be (finally) the era of Dean Ambrose. And it might start at Money in the Bank.

  8. Where can I find Dean Ambrose promos from FCW?
    published on 19 May 2016

Go no further than to this page where I collected all segments of the Dean Ambrose vs William Regal feud. The most part of Dean Ambrose in FCW was connected with William Regal, so almost everything is there for you to discover or re-watch. If English isn’t your first language or you’ve got trouble to understand some phrases, I also transcribed the promos, so you’ve got a better chance to get what Dean Ambrose was saying back then.

  9. What’s the segment called when Dean Ambrose gave away free merchandize?
    published on 19 May 2016

Dean Ambrose called it himself The Dean Ambrose Clearance Sale and I’ve written about the entire RAW episode from 29 September 2014 here. If you like to watch this very segment, just click here for the video. Enjoy!

  10. Where can I find the match of Bryan Danielson vs Dean Ambrose at Dragon Gate USA (DGUSA)?
    published on 19 May 2016

There never was a match between Bryan Danielson and Dean Ambrose because Dean Ambrose only came to life for FCW / WWE. But of course there was a match between Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley, in fact it was the last match of Bryan Danielson before he was re-hired for WWE as Daniel Bryan. It was on 26 September 2010 when Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley met inside the ring at The Way Of the Ronin at Dragon Gate USA. You can watch the match here. And you can also find the great pre-match promo by Jon Moxley from 10 August 2010 here.

  11. Where can I find Jon Moxley / Dean Ambrose matches from HWA and FCW respectively?
    published on 05 June 2016

Thanks for this question, Firat. To make it easier to read, I’ll break this down into a list. I hope, it helps:

Sporadically you can find HWA matches on YouTube or Dailymotion but those DVDs are good and not expensive options. They are in Code 0, so watchable everywhere on this planet.

  12. Did Dean Ambrose tease his cash-in at Money in the Bank?
    published on 23 June 2016

Dean Ambrose Champion briefs Besides all the promos and promises before, like he always does and never got the job done until Money in the Bank? Yes, I actually think he did. If he did change the brand of his briefs for this special event.

Dean Ambrose MITB I noticed just here that Dean Ambrose wore a pair of briefs from the Champion brand, possibly the grey ones. He might have worn them before but in context with his win of WWE’s ultimate prize at Money in the Bank, it’s a nice coincidence.

  13. Are fans of Dean Ambrose also lunatic?
    published on 23 June 2016

Of course they are. At the same amount as fans of (“Dirty”) Harry Callahan (a.k.a Clint Eastwood) are violent policemen with an allergy for authority. Well, that was a bad example. But I guess, your question is answered anyway. Yes, there are some strange fangirls in the Dean Ambrose fandom but believe me, the majority of his fans are as normal as anybody else. Every human being likes different things or personalities. And the fans of Dean Ambrose like his style and his antics. You don’t have to recognize yourself in another person to like him or her. Sometimes there are just some facets; sometimes it’s the complete opposite that attracts. But the main error is to assume that all fans of Dean Ambrose are ticking equally. Trust me, they do not.

  14. Regarding: Dean Ambrose and his wife
    published on 19 April 2017

I don’t care about her, and I don’t care about them together. So, I’m afraid you need to get your information elsewhere.

  15. What type / breed of dog does Dean Ambrose have?
    published on 19 April 2017

    An ugly rat.
